Proper aims of education

Education in many countries is the key to success, a source of knowledge, wisdom and many positive impacts. As many people aspire to acquire knowledge, the educational aim is the target of the cultivation of curiosity and the deposition to inquire the fostering of creativity. In this essay several aims of education are discussed.

Development aim of education

It is also known as the harmonious aim of education. It’s the harmonious development of the physical, emotional, intellectual, moral and aesthetic sides of human personality. This aim was first advocated by Rousseau who said education as the process of development into an enjoyable, harmoniously balanced, useful and hence natural life. Development makes life easy in achieving success in all field of human life.

Knowledge aim of education

Knowledge is simply the power by which things are done and progress. In this aim the individual develops his individuality and fulfills his possibility by the help of knowledge. Through this many becomes philosophers; Socrates, Aristotole, Dante have propounded knowledge as an important aim of education. Knowledge means development of mentality power-thinking, reasoning, discrimination, judgment problem solving and intelligence.

Character aim of education

Education character enables people to rise above narrow mindedness, self-interest, anger, fear and to utilize knowledge for betterment of humanity rather than for its destruction and dilapidation. The aim of education is the development of character for the larger interest of the people in the community.

Democratic aim of education

The aim of education is to promote good democratic values which are necessary for the success of democracy. The aim of education is to enhance democratic way of living, respect for dignity of human freedom and peaceful methods in living. Education aims in promoting diplomatic relations between international relations.

Conclusion

The aim of education ensures peaceful existence of the society. The advancement of humankind as knowledge is exchanged between teacher and student. It’s education that aims in helping us to avoid wastage of time and energy.

COMPETENCY BASED CURRICULUM

  CBC the new Education System Kenya CBC  stands for  Competency Based Curriculum . This is the new education system in Kenya that is currently set to replace the  8-4-4 education system . The system was introduced in 2017. The CBC system was researched and developed by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development. This new curriculum is here to stay as it had been gradually introduced and is constantly replacing the 8-4-4 education cycle where the cycle consists of 8 years in primary education is being dismantled into a 6 year term.
